Memorial Day Adventures

(Click on the post title to open in a browser for viewing videos.)

With the new fire pit, we cheated before camping and did s'mores on the deck, complete with a dance party in which Margaret declared, "Why are y'all doing that??  You look dumb!"  Well, the play list and the drinks were just the right combo and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, Miss Margaret!

Our rescheduled Mother's Day adventure (flights again in Waynesboro) were all fun until the pilot did exactly what they had begged for...we didn't quite go upside down, but it was close!  They cheered after the first dip and were silent and white faced after the second one.

Until next time, Eagle's Nest Aviation Community, where everyone's garage is literally a hanger!

Polo at King Family Vineyard---Always a great time with friends, but sad today as a horse actually died....heart attack in the middle of the game. Handled very respectfully, but still difficult.  Vet said he was dead before he hit the ground.  I couldn't even think about the jockey, who we saw carted off the field.

Heartwarming

If in doubt, assume that they ARE listening in church.

Oh. My. Word.  Unsolicited notes are THE best.

Well, good to know!

After 8+ incredible years, it was finally time to trade-in the Tahoe.   We got this baby days before Andrew was born.  Literally our first Craigslist purchase, it was a steal and served us quite well in the CO mountains and as the car seats continued to pile in.   Not gonna lie....cried like a baby the last time I filled her up.  TOO many memories in this car, and clinging to my last bit of CO (besides the t-shirt, the Kroger card, and the 303 area code).  On to an Enclave.  Maybe the Rockies will meet her.

Literally drove into the swap spot at exactly 140,000...
Earlier that morning, enjoyed the Design House with the best of the best.

So proud of Andrew and Margaret at their AWANA Awards ceremony.  Based on the books he's completed, Andrew has memorized 150 passages to date and Margaret about half of that.  All three have memorized the books of Bible and Matthew simply can NOT wait to start next year.  Intersting stat provided...of the kids that are raised in the church, children that participate in AWANA are about twice as likely to stay with the church as adults.  About 93% of them never leave the church.  There's something to having the good book on your heart, not just in your hands.
Why does this NEVER happen at home anymore?!?  Apparently too excited about his first ride in the "new" car.
The best of friends on the last day of school!  We love Cabell:)

Margaret's first FieldDay!  She was in hog heaven with the water sports, especially the water slide down the back hill!

April showers bring...

more May showers, evidently...

After an unusually dry February-March, it has been a terribly wet April-May.  But the garden looks great...

...and we were finally able to get out to Adventure Farm for their Friday evening music and fun.  Wonderful church friends:-)

And then this guy came to visit after who knows how many years!
 He. Does. Not. AGE!
That may change after the first little girl arrives in August.

Beautiful afternoon at King Family Vineyard, until the bottom dropped out.

These two boys go back 24 years.
Happy to be celebrating Mark and Dianna's sweet expectation with them.
We have babies again....just wish we could see them under the deck.

And apparently the new portion of the deck is being utilized, too!

Pentecost Sunday---"We are the Church!".  Quite a few kids missing, but they sang just beautifully and said it was lots of fun!  Mission accomplished.

Miss Margaret's "response time" after the story in Children's Church.
Volunteering has its benefits.

95 years young!  We had the honor and privilege and celebrating Mary Spencer's 95th birthday on Sunday.  What a joy and inspiration she is, whether in Small Group at her house, Sunday School, or just chatting in the Sanctuary.  Her suite-mate at Wooster was the to-be Ruth Graham....what a chaperon Mary must have been for those two!  Billy would be proud of how Mary has blossomed and shared the Gospel.
