It is only after I reflect on the week that I realize how busy we have become. The world is saturated with opportunities for us all...opportunities to give, explore, learn, and indulge. Trying to sprinkle a few of each into the week to promote balance in our family's life is a juggling act, but creates memories. The reflections below don't even include the dinner at school on Friday or today's flag football game and AWANA this evening - whew!
Next stop was the Clothing Center. While we were turning in our donation, a few clients were shopping. Andrew saw for himself the benefit of us passing along some of our things. As minimal as we try to be, we are still no doubt excessive in the grand scheme of things.
It's a bit of a hike to get to the field in the Meadow. |
Carefully watching Daddy as he prepares the plane for its first flight.
Taking Molly for a swim.
Margaret was over the moon to finally be able to go to the Dentist herself. In typical Margaret fashion, she had the hygienist in stitches during my appointment and actually helped quite a bit. Then she was perfect during her appointment, not missing a beat or being in the slightest bit bothered by any of it.
...and just because a shot of Margaret's weekly "lesson" with JJ always generates a few memorable moments...she found this swim cap on Tuesday, which was an entire hour of entertainment and instructional help. |
We discovered a new playground up north today. Great fun for all! Had my phone turned the wrong way, but couldn't help capturing Matthew's giggle...and Margaret's "underdog":) What's not to love about 8.5 months?!?
Taken from the front door as we headed to the bus stop, I realized that while the sun is technically up now when we walk, it won't be for long. Can't wait to schlep them all with flashlights! Margaret might not be able to ride her bike in the dark:( |
Thursday night was for Mom! I've wanted to do a "Cocktails and Canvas" or "Wine and Design" for years and only now did all of the stars align. "Fun Night Art" was actually held in Chili's - their blackberry margarita was the perfect compliment! This shot is about half-way through the instruction. |
Such a fun evening with Ashley, Sara and Lauren. |
Saturday vs. Ball St. was Family Day at UVA. Players in Andrew's flag football league got free tickets, so he and I went. This worked out well since he was quite displeased (to put it nicely) when we left the VA Tech game at halftime earlier this season. Since it was 86 degrees (on Oct. 5!!!), we hopped around to remain in shaded seats. In the 3rd quarter when Andrew asked if he could lay down, I explained that there would be nothing wrong with leaving now. In fact, he could go lay on the sofa with Daddy in the air conditioning and catch the 4th qtr of the VT/UNC game if we left! Luckily, he decided that was a good idea. And thank goodness we left b/c it was a tie ball game at 27 with 2 minutes left in the 3rd and UVA ended up losing 45-27. Ouch.
The most exciting part for Andrew was anytime the canon or fireworks were shot off. |
Two very polite UVA basketball players. |
As we entered the stadium, his first reaction was, "Whoa! UVA is my favorite team after Virginia Tech!". I texted Daddy and replied to have plenty of fun, but that I better not come home with a bunch of UVA crap:)
To end the week with some love, I can't help but include this series of our sweet baby. This, folks, is our Little Man...a happy, patient, giggly, ticklish
96th percentile bundle of joy:) These are the moments I thank my God for blessing his creation with the gift of joy.
