January Outtakes

This little guy weighed in at 39+lbs (97%) and 38" tall (70%).  He's gonna hit the 40/40 mark much sooner than the others, but bets on coming in on when he surpasses Margaret!

Taco trucks from the Jones family!

Teaching little brother about "running eggs" in the very same bowl in which I grew up eating them.

A few snow day pics courtesy of Jenn Coon....always some of my favorite shots!

Attempting to look through our bedroom window.

His best attempt at Darth Vader at friend's house...

...and then his best recreation later during nap....yep-passed out cold with the helmet and a gun.

Andrew's report on the Rocky Mountain - this assignment was self-imposed out of the blue and he worked on it every night for 2 weeks....and by "night" I mean after his bedtime until OUR bedtime.  He beamed in my room at 10:30pm to tell me when he finished it.

Several babies in our lives right now and he's obsessed with them all.

Where were we?!?

We went to a babysitter's JV basketball game and Margaret showed us her stuff during halftime.

Hittin' the slopes!

After one lesson last year for Andrew and one lesson last week for both of them, we are done with lessons.  Time to hit the slopes!  Matthew's assessment of the situation?  "I wanna go skiing, too, and I don't need a lesson!".  He's actually probably right:)

I texted for an updated: "They r doing well. Meg loves it. Luckily Andy needs Zero attention cause Meg scares me. She just cruises and starts going 'woooooo'. But u need to tell her to slow down or she just falls."  Fell out of my chair laughing:)
Lots of neighbors were up for the Monday night $20 deal.  Tracey reported in, "I was at the top of the slope and I heard this scream at the top of her lungs. I said to myself. That is Margaret ..... She was so full of excitement each time I saw her."  Makes my heart smile.

"Now that I think of it, I probably heard about 6 random people above us on the chair lift laugh, in a nice way, as she zoomed down the hill screaming."   I am grateful that watching them enjoy childhood is as fulfilling as experiencing it since we ultimately remember so little.

Snow Activities...

Home Church, UVA-Syracuse bball, Broncos to the super bowl...

The kids LOVE our home-church tradition.  We create a real bulletin with all of the components of a regular service and assign parts to all.  Andrew proudly leads us in the Welcome, Apostles Creed, reads the scripture and is our lead vocalist.  Margaret was excited to lead the Lord's Prayer for the first time.  Michael and I split the rest and Matthew....well, there are videos below to explain Matthew's contributions!

("The Church's One Foundation" and "Great is Thy Faithfulness" hymns could not be recorded as the pianist is not talented enough to play and video simultaneously:)

Ski Day and 2' snow!

Dody was kind enough to come down for the day to be with Matthew while I took the big skiing.

But the problem with Dody ever coming is that Dody eventually leaves and I'm left with this...

He insisted on carrying the TJ's bag that had the wine in it.  Then turned around, "It's hebby, Mom.  It's hebby."  Yep, it's heavy when expecting 2' of snow.

First ever JUMP for all 3 together---brilliant move and big hit right before they closed for snow.

Andrew was excited for his first slam dunk.

Skiing down the street...it's SLLLOOOOWWW, but it's something.

Yorktown & Jamestown

With a 5-day weekend in honor of MLK Jr. Day, we swung through Richmond to pick up Dody and take her to her favorite area.  The Yorktown Visitor Center is definitely worth the visit and the farm outside with reenactments is fabulous.  And yes, it was FREEZING!  22 degrees and WINDY, but the kids (and the volunteers!) were troopers.

Lunch on the river was beautiful.
We picked up a CD in the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor's Center and did the 1-hour driving tour of these sites.  Brilliant, educational, and a beautiful drive.

Historic Jamestown is mostly archaeological sites, but they loved the "chapel" and the museum on the water there, too....though they found the skeletal remain creepy.
Andrew spotted a beautiful bald eagle!

Perhaps the most fun was our ability to surprise Mom in person (just 10 days late) with her 70th birthday brick at the alumnae house at William and Mary.

 Crim Dell in the snow!
