"He is risen!"

(Click on post title to open in a browser for video viewing.)

Matthew 28:6  "He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Andrew was interested in trying our Sunrise Service,
so we rolled out in the dark to celebrate the resurrection.
With 60 people in attendance, our service by the cross was beautiful, complete with Tom's guitar, Kit on Banjo this year, and Whitley's brilliance with the flowers...think they just happened to be in perfect bloom on Easter morn??
We skipped breakfast to come home for family traditions.
We'll properly prop the tripod next year...

Easter games in Sunday School.  Thankful teachers that make their learning environment fun.

The baskets of B's---Bathing suits, books and bubbles.

Easter afternoon, Part II:
The secular world schedules games on Easter, so Michael and Andrew headed to the Hopkins game, which happened to be at UVA.  Andrew made a sign for Hopkins' highest scoring attack, hoping to get on TV after one of Ryan's goals.  We still need to catch up on TiVo to see!
Then the best of friends squeezed in a family Easter between the afternoon UVA lacrosse game and the evening UVA elite 8 game.  Ranging from 10 days to 13 years, 18 kids (plus 1 boyfriend) we do provide!  Thank you, Coons, for hosting in such a beautiful home and for the priceless pics, Jenn!

Sneak Peak:
Who brought the preppy, shaggy, UVA-lookin' kid??

Even with 3 grandparents in attendance, we managed not to capture the handsome Men with their Hens.  Next time....because there always will be.  Something has happened here and it is good.  Very good.

Holy Week

Church buddiesAlways trouble with Presley...those Pastors' kids:-)

Palm Sunday - A favorite tradition of mine and Michael's,
going back to John Bell.

"All Glory, Laud and Honor"

There are no words for what Good Friday ("Holy Friday") means and the impact it has.  Our Maundy Thursday service proved that....I could find no words among the tears.  John 19:30 - "It is Finished".  But Sunday is coming!
Our Friday Night Lights. Felt so good to see Michael Killian coaching on a high school field again, even if for now it's just Andrew's 2nd-4th grade team's half-time scrimmage. And Andrew's first time on a high school field since I lugged him in his infant carrier. ‪#‎lovelacrosse #‎hatesweet16conflicts‬

Waiting...seems fitting on Black Saturday.
CHS Egg Hunt - to the family that arrived at 10:04 wondering where the eggs were, yes.  It started at 10:00 and was over 90 seconds later.

Fenced baseball field - perfect for the 1-3 hunt.

Running home from the neighborhood egg hunt, "Just wike the big kids!"

Andrew's VABA basketball league hosts a "Championship" afternoon where they introduce the kids college-style and have a party afterwards.  The kids loved hearing their names on the sound system.  It was a great season and Andrew continued to love it.

Margaret enjoyed basketball this year, too, but was enjoying nothing this evening.  After about 10 minutes of this post-bedtime tantrum, I couldn't help but laugh and document a rather calm ending to it.  Yes, this is our MLK, Jr. Leadership award recipient:)

Oh, the things you do to motivate #2 in the potty....if you want a video of yourself, a video you will get!

Rolly tumble, a post-shower favorite....#creatingmemories

Sweetheart Dance and 10-miler

Several weeks ago, Andrew started asking me to teach him how to wrap a present, but that he couldn't tell me why. He finally revealed that he had a present for us.  So when Emily and Jason visited, I seized the opportunity and passed the lesson off so she could help him with this surprise.

On Andrew's birthday, we opened this note...

"To: Family (including Molly).  Even though it might be my birthday, I want you to celebrate it with me.  I will do that by a gift to you.  I am doing this because families love for each other.  And there are many ways to do that, but I am doing it by giving.  - Andrew"
(Note: Andrew has won awards for his hand-writing, but only when he has lines!)

We then opened this picture, which we had never seen.  He got it from school and kept it from us.
One of Woodbrook's best traditions is the Sweetheart Dance.  A family event for all ages, it was fantastic evening for the kids, complete with their favorite local DJ.  The highlight, though, may have been Matthew chasing the girls wondering, "Where's Vi-wet?  Where's Vi-wet?", referring to Margaret's buddy, Violet.

This year marked the 40th anniversary of the Charlottesville 10-miler, but only my second race.  Last year's goal?  To finish.  Despite running lots more and sort of training, I had never actually run that distance.  The result?  8:35-minute miles.  Quite pleased!
This year, I lacked a goal.  Winter training had not been what I hoped and I went in feeling nonchalant about it.  I run to stay fit and no longer need races for motivation.  So to finish right at 80-min was unexpected, to say the least. Many thanks to running buddies the first 5 miles to help me maintain the 8:00-min pace.   The bar's too high now.  Don't think I'll be shaving 6-minutes off my time each year!

(43 degrees - perfect clothing.)

My finish line crew!

ACC in DC

(Click on post title to open in browser for videos.)

Pros and cons to the ACC being in DC this year.  Friday was a great day of family site-seeing and the National Geographic Museum.

Andrew spotted a Colorado Springs native and wanted a picture for Daddy (in the hotel on a conference call).

Learning to speak Croc in 5 minutes...

World War II Memorial with Emily
He wanted to show Mrs. Kent:-)

Moving Korean War Memorial
In spite of all staying in the same hotel, it was still impossible to capture all 9 cousins that made it to the city!  Sarah (13), Abby (11), Charlie (2) not pictured;
Ben (1 month) and Grier (1 month) home with Moms.
They wanted to go get the President's autograph...many reasons THAT was not going to happen.
Lincoln...and Margaret's revelation that snack was not going to be what she had hoped.
Even the zoo couldn't trump naptime...too many late nights in a row.

At least we got night-time diaper on before he passed out.
Air and Space Museum; St. Patty's Day Parade!

Thursday night in Vienna celebrating birthdays....Alex - 9, Andrew - 8
(53.5" = 90%; 66lb = 82%)

Was there any basketball this weekend???  Duke didn't seem to think so:(
