Girls' Weekend in Bath County

to open in a window so that videos will appear.

The sign of truly wonderful friends are those committed to regular meetings AND an annual escape to focus on each other.  Thanks to Mom and Dad, Richmond and Banner Elk have been our gracious get-aways the last four years, but this year we found ourselves in beautiful Bath County, VA.

Fort Lewis Lodge is about 20 minutes from the famous Homestead.  Offering silo lodging in addition to a handful of separate cabins (plus two houses down the road), they also have a recreational pavilion and provide optional breakfast and dinner B&B style.

The Lodge recently acquired The Bend House about a mile down the road, offering us a beautiful, modern, isolated 4-bedroom retreat.

Delicious buffet dinner at the Lodge with many regular vacationers...
iced tea, lemonade, or water??

Behind the Bend House, you bump through the pasture to the barbed wire fence and climb the hand-made UVA-flag-adorned ladder to get to the river.

Glow in the dark HEN SOCKS!!!

Morning run

Thank goodness for the morning run because lunch was irresistible, complete with a Rose tasting.
