Too Bad She Didn't Have ANY Fun Last Night...

The 1st & 2nd grade concert about world music was clearly an evening of fun for Margaret and her sweet friend Violet.
Boy, these girls can dance!  Dare you not to smile....

"This Boat's Gonna Carry Us Around the World"

Margaret introducing "Bayou Blues" - sweet girl had it memorized, but when handed the part, she just read along.

"Do You Remember Me"

The Dance!

 "You Gotta Have Music..."

Unrelated to the musical, Margaret and Matthew's conversation over dinner beforehand was priceless.  He keeps mentioning that he and Megan are in love and going to get married.  And the plan keeps getting more and more detailed!

Spring Break

Shortly before Spring Break was Charlottesville's annual 10-miler.  Always a great race complete with faithful volunteers and spectators.  1:25/8:33  Not bad for the relative lack of training compared with the prior 4 years and the delightful "chitter chatter" with Jorie the first 5 miles.

Love how they always offer me donuts at the finish line:-)

"Working" with Mom sometimes means "working" with Dino at the Brick Oven!

This is how we "Costco" these days.

The birthday gift that keeps on giving.

First spring break stop----DC to tackle Daddy in his hotel!  Drove around downtown for a bit to take in all we could---Matthew's favorite was "the pencil statue"---then hit Air and Space.

Baltimore...with Caroline this year!
A handsome group of fellas.

A few special things from around the house...

We're quite fond of the one that was painted "on top" of the tree years later:-)
The son of Susan's good friend has this amazing glass blowing business that has really taken off.  Tim is doing commissioned art and work for folks all over the country and has a fantastic studio for classes.  What fun this was to make a necklace, a fan piece, and a starfish (for Andrew's fish tank).

Yes!  The let MY children free with a blow torch!
Choosing colors

Even Andrew couldn't believe they let Matthew have the blow torch!

Shaping the starfish

Incredible crabs
The sink!

Just a chandelier in his shop

Cannot count how many games of Blokus and Mancala we played over the course of the week, but all so good.

Final stop---Dody and Granddaddy's.  A 3-cornered hat from Williamsburg?  Nah.  A Pirate hat perfect for sleeping!

No better person to help you with your tie for church.  Special morning as it was the first time Dad had sung with the choir again since his first surgery, the colectomy in November.

Must have been a busy week with the grandparents to fall asleep in the car.

Priase God, the Lord is Risen!

Holy week - the most precious week of the year.  The reason for our being.

We always begin with The Tale of Three Trees - the greatest Easter story I've found, for all ages.  If you haven't, do yourself a favor and read it.  Now.

In lieu of our weekly Wednesday night Simple Supper and service, Meadows has a lovely, touching and moving, quiet Maundy Thursday service.  We begin with 30 minutes of special music and continue with an amazing remembrance of Jesus' Last Supper.

We also enjoyed a beautiful Good Friday service at First Pres, but only after enjoying free skate and exhibitions at the ice arena's closing party.  Hysterical to see the differences in us...Matthew's progress on the ice has been nothing short of amazing this season.  Margaret is now skating circles around everyone else.  And Andrew, who played ice hockey for two seasons after taking lessons for two years acted like he'd never been on ice before.  RRGGHH.  Former hockey player, Dad, of course, still has his touch.

Little Miss 7 years ago.

And if Easter is not just as commercially confusing as Christmas, we had to squeeze in some egg hunts and festivals on Saturday to support our neighborhood and our pool.  The Dogwood Festival Foundation rented our property this year to have their popular event.

These two children patiently waited 90 minutes for their balloons.  Yes, 90 minutes (not 9).

And then He rose again from the dead!  Andrew and I enjoyed our sunrise service with 60 other worshipers (only after being tackled by a deer on the way:-( ) before having breakfast with our congregation.  A wonderful tradition.

And the kids got to sing on Easter this year!  A beautiful, perfect anthem.  Mrs. Anderson is doing an incredible job with the kids in only 10 minutes a week.

My Lord, He Died for a Kingdom

Our Small Group member, Hannah Hein, graciously took pictures for folks after the service...the series tells the story of the sass:-)

They begged, and begged, and begged until...
