I've never been shy about my hesitation to have Matthew, but oh, my! What immense joy he has brought us! In spite of the abundance of sleepless nights and occasional clever (yet challenging) behavior that we never could have predicted, this kid provides killer smiles, hugs and words to melt you, and keeps us rolling on the floor. So very grateful.
Birthday parties at school are the best!
Daddy made it home from Arlington!
Margaret decided that opening present demanded an intro---any excuse to dance, sing or do cartwheels:-)
Just a LITTLE bit excited that he's finally old enough for Triple C camp this summer!
Scavenger Hunt for the last unwrapped present but the best (unfilmed squeals of delight and glea for the Lightening McQueen Car Wash) present had already been discovered yet undocumented.
Just good timing, Lalu and Big Rob got a tour of the Car Wash...
Note: This should not be an indoor toy!
Time to party!!! After attending one last fall, Matthew begged for a martial arts party. Gotta say, these guys were exceptionally good with the kiddos.
Warm Up
Dodge the Noodle
Dodge the Noodle 2
Black belt for the day!
Just a wee bit excited:-)
Jump the River Grand Finale
Happy Birthday!
Samari Sword Cake Cutting
This will be a pretty cute picture if Matthew and Ella end up sharing cake together again some day:-)

Presley slept over and these boys worked on Star Wars Legos for HOURS (while also cheering on our buddy Jay Huff, but enjoying watching Duke beat UVA).
We've had a lot of them by now, but birthdays are still fun. They are always important. And we should always be delighted to celebrate, no matter the number.
