39 or 93???

Andrew and Margaret helped make Michael's birthday cake before school.   Unbeknownst to them, I would personally frost it later, carefully NOT asking for any help with that step.  Then when they were home, I suggested we put 39 candles on the cake, following the pattern I had traced in the cake.  Upon completion, I posed to Andrew, "See how that's a 3 and a 9?" He honestly replied, "Oh, is he 39 or 93?  Whoa...that's a lot!!! (before I could answer)".

Though I'm sad to report we don't have any more pictures of the day's celebration (we were Skyping with Grandma during presents and cake candles while I was feeding the baby and....you know the scene), we did have a wonderful time. We took the kids to Matthew's first "Fridays at Five" concert at the Pavilion downtown, enjoyed pizza and beer, then the requested, "nothing but chocolate" triple chocolate cake and finished off the evening with a surprise appearance from Emily!
P.S.  Daddy's "big" present was a flying lesson with our neighbor through his company.  Andrew is allowed to go with them.  Fingers crossed that is a fun experience.  Stay tuned!
